This sector contains a couple of the heavy dividend payers that are considered to be quite safe. AstraZeneca and Glaxo Smithkline. They are both highly cash generative companies and both are embarked on a double payback to shareholders i.e buying back their own shares and a progrssive dividend policy.

The third company is this sector is Shire Pharmaceuticals which has a low yield, but very high dividend cover, so increased dividends should be expected if not guaranteed.
